The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-20 - Paul is being held prisoner in Rome. He is talking to people about what to do when the devil comes at you. He says to put on armor to protect yourself from the devil. Not from flesh (people) but from evil forces we can't see. He says use Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation to shield ourselves from the devil. Notice in verse 16 where he tells us to have faith. He adds "In all circumstances take up the shield of faith." All of these are important and necessary, but he makes an added point to say IN ALL circumstances. It is important to always have faith in everything, with everything we are, have faith. In verse 13 (in the Message Bible) it says "Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet." We can't handle this on our own, and we don't have to. God has "issued" us everything we need to defeat the devil. And we can do that and end up still standing on our own feet. We will not be knocked down. We will not be defeated. God always wins and he is on our side. God has given us everything we need to defeat the devil.

So take a look at your life. The devil may be throwing something at you. Know this, you can handle it. Something I always say is "God's got your back". Have faith, be strong, and use the tools that God has given you to fight off the devil. With God, it's not even a guess - it's a fact, you WILL win.
